STORM '93 WINS STATE!

The President's Cup division of the TN State Soccer Championship was held this past weekend at Camp Jordan. After battling thru five games against some tough competition, Signal Mountain's Storm '93 girls won the top spot in their age bracket, ending with a total of 13 goals scored, and allowing only 2 goals against them. This Storm team has been together for five years, which is a long time considering most of the girls are just 13 years old. Their coach is Theresa Knox, who also coaches the Red Bank High School teams, and is the Director of Coaching for the Signal Mountain Soccer League. At the beginning of the season Coach Knox told the girls, "Our goal for this year is to win State. It's going to take serious commitment and a lot of hard work, but we are going to win!". After the final game, Knox said "Because of the work the girls did outside of regular practices, their dedication was rewarded with a victory. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of girls."

The Signal Mountain Storm '93 team is coached by Katie Mitchell. They have been practicing and competing together since the summer of 2002.

Storm '93 won first place at the Camp Jordan Indoor Shootout in 2008, 2007, and 2006 against some very tough competition from the East Ridge Amazons and the Knoxville Hotspurs. They were finalists in the Deep Freeze Indoor Shootout in January of 2007.

Storm '93 were also the Champions at the 2005 Camp Jordan Tournament. In April of 2005 they finished second to Bayern Munich in the Music City Invitational, and attended the Division 2 State Cup tournament. They were finalists in the 2004 Atlanta Cup, semifinalists in the 2004 State Cup Regionals, and finalists in the Spring '04 Diadora Impact tournament. They were finalists in the Camp Jordan Indoor Shootout in January 2004, finishing second to their sister team, Spirit '91. The team placed second at the Brentwood Fall 2003 Invitational and the SRFC 2003 Summer Shootout. They won first place in the Gold Division at the 2003 Ocoee Cup Tournament, and placed first at the Music City Invitational tournament in the spring of 2003.
