Storm '96 finalists at the 2006 Cannons Challenge Cup The Signal Mountain Storm 96 girls’ select soccer team competed in the U11/U12 girls Gold division of the Cannons Challenge Cup Soccer tournament in Newnan, GA during the weekend of October 28 and 29th. Storm 96 recorded wins of 2-0 versus Middle Valley Magic, TN , 4-1 versus Auburn Thunder, AL, and 7-0 versus Imhotep Eagles, GA. Storm’s only loss came against the eventual tournament winners, the Lady Cannons 96 Gold, GA. In a close, highly competitive and entertaining game, the Lady Cannons scored a goal in the last minute of the game to win 1-0. It was a disappointing way to lose, but the Storm team was pleased to be able to compete strongly against a very highly-ranked Georgia team and finish the tournament with a 3-1 record as finalists. The Storm 96 team is shown with their finalist trophies.
