Signal Mountain Storm ’96 finalists in 2007 State tournament On May 12th and 13th Signal Mountain Storm 96 competed in the Division 3 State Championships held at the East Ridge soccer complex, Chattanooga. During provisional play on Saturday, Storm 96 recorded wins against FC Academy Gold, Nashville and Impact USA Nike 1, Nashville. These two wins put Storm 96 into the quarter-finals on Sunday morning, where they won against Hendersonville Fusion. In the semi-finals, they won against Lady Impact Blue. The Storm 96 players were disappointed to lose the final against Lady Impact Nike 6 from Nashville, however they were proud of their accomplishment reaching the final of the state tournament. Storm 96’s coach, Darren Bird, was delighted that the team was able to finish in second place out of 27 teams in the U11 girls division from all over Tennessee and was very proud of the exciting soccer that the team played during 5 very competitive games. The Storm '96 team is shown with their medals.
