2008 Team Roster

The Signal Mountain Storm girls finished second in the Redoubt Invitational Soccer Tournament held over the Memorial Day weekend.  The Storm went 3-1-0 with wins over Middle Valley Magic 6-0, SCOR Wolves 8-0, the Peachtree City Lazers 3-0. The Storm lost to the Coweta County Cannons 2-1 in the Final.

Storm 97 finished the 2007-2008 season with a 23-7-9 tournament record, two Championships including a State Championship and 5 second place finishes.  At the end of the year Storm 97 was ranked 6th in Tennessee, 20th in Region III and 45th nationally according to soccerincollege.com. 

 

STATE CHAMPIONS!!

The Signal Mountain 97 Girls won the U11 Division Three Tennessee State Soccer Championship which was held at Camp Jordan on May 10 and 11.  The Signal Mountain Storm went 5-0-0 on the way to the Championship with wins over Murfreesboro Strikers White (7 to 0), TNFC Black (7 to 1, and 3 to1), East Ridge Hurricanes (2 to 0).  In the final the Storm played KFC Courage Orange and came away with a 3 to 1 win.  Team members are: Ellie Haskins, Akia Harris, Emma Kate Lewis and Lexi Arnold, Allwyn Fisher, Addison Brewer, Shelby Wright and April Forsthoffer, Mckenzie Allen, Rebecca Goodrich, Lindsay Rufolo, and Emily Thornton.  The Storm only allowed 3 goals while scoring 22.  The Signal Mountain Storm is coached by Robert Wright.

Storm 97 girls finished 2nd in the Vulcan Cup tournament in Birmingham on March 8th and 9th.  They started off with a  4-0 win over CFC Rage from Mississippi, and then finished out group play with 0-0 ties with LSC Sting from Louisiana and Alphretta White from Atlanta GA.  The Storm girls out shot  both the LSC and Alpharetta but they could not get anything to go in the net.  In the final, Storm 97 lost 1-0 to the Mississippi Fire.  Again the Storm had a great shot hit the post and several shots that the goalkeeper for the Fire came up big and made the save.  Standouts for the weekend were Goalkeeper Addison Brewer, defender Lindsay Rufolo, defender April Forsthoffer, and defender Allwyn Fisher.

Storm 97 finished second in the Champions Bracket of the Concorde Cup in Atlanta on Feb 23 and 24.  In group play they had a 2-1 win against ASA Extreme Elite (Ranked 12th in country by Soccer in College), a 1-0 win against Alpharetta Ambush Red (ranked 6th in the country), a 1-1 tie against the Cobb County Strikers (ranked 30th nationally).  In the final  Storm lost 2-1 to Norcross Fury (ranked 22nd nationally) in a hard fought game.  For the tournament Ellie Haskins had 3 goals, Mckenzie Allen had 1 goal, and Emma Kate Lewis had 1 goal.

Storm 97 finished second in the Triumph Cup in Tucker GA on November 17th and 18th.  They lost the final 2-0 to the Alpharetta Ambush 97 Red.  The Ambush are the top rated team in Georgia as well as Region III.  The Storm beat the Lanier Sharks 2-0, tied 0-0 with the 97 Lady Chiefs Gold and then beat the Atlanta Fire 98 1-0 on the way to the final.

Storm 97 had a tournament record of 13-3-6, winning one tournament and coming second in two others.  Storm 97 finished the 2007 season ranked 6th in Tennessee, 33rd in Region III ,70th in the nation.

Storm 97 finished 2nd in the Music City Invitational on October 20 and 21st.  We went 2-1-1, with wins

over East Ridge Express 2-0, Mockingbird White 1-0 and a 1-1 tie against HFC Hurricanes.

The 3-1 loss against Impact '98  was our first tournament loss of the year.

2007 Redoubt Invitational Champions!

Storm '97 won again on Memorial Day Weekend.  They scored 31 goals en route

to the Championship.  They beat East Ridge Hurricanes 5-2, ASA Extreme Black 7-2,
HVAC 97 12-1, and KFC Courage Orange 7-3. 

Storm '97 completed the 06-07 season with a 26-4-1 tournament game record.

The '97 Storm scored 26 goals and only allowed 2 going 4-0-0 in the tournament.

The '97 Storm finished the regular season and the end of the season tournament undefeated.

Champions of the Tornado Challenger Cup Soccer Tournament!

 November, 2006

Storm 97 played 3 games to make it to the finals.  They won the first game 6 - 0 against RYSA, won 3 - 1 against Concord Black, won 5 - 1 to Athens United.   The championship game was on Sunday, November 19.  They played Concord Black and won the tournament 2 - 1.

Champions of the Tennessee United Cup of Champions!

During the weekend of September 30 and October 1 2006, the girls went 3-1-0 en route to the Championship.

Storm 97 girls beat East Ridge 97 1-0 and and Lady Generals 98 5-0 in a rain shortened 2006 Ocoee Cup Tournament to finish as co-champions.

Storm Black finished 2nd in the Redoubt Tournament on May 27 and 28, 2006.  They had two wins and two ties.  Storm Black did not allow a goal the entire tournament.

In the 2006 Cahaba Cup, Signal Mountain Storm '97 White came home with a second place win and Signal Mountain Storm '97 Black earned a first place win in their respective divisions. Coaches Robb Wright and Hannah Huskey are pictured with their winning teams.
