STORM
'93 WINS STATE!
The
President's Cup division of the TN State Soccer Championship was held this
past weekend at Camp Jordan. After battling thru five games against some
tough competition, Signal Mountain's Storm '93 girls won the top spot in
their age bracket, ending with a total of 13 goals scored, and allowing only
2 goals against them. This Storm team has been together for five years,
which is a long time considering most of the girls are just 13 years old.
Their coach is Theresa Knox, who also coaches the Red Bank High School
teams, and is the Director of Coaching for the Signal Mountain Soccer
League. At the beginning of the season Coach Knox told the girls, "Our goal
for this year is to win State. It's going to take serious commitment and a
lot of hard work, but we are going to win!". After the final game, Knox
said "Because of the work the girls did outside of regular practices, their
dedication was rewarded with a victory. I am thankful to have had the
opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of girls."

Storm '93 won first place at the Camp Jordan Indoor Shootout in 2007, and 2006 against some very tough competition from the East Ridge Amazons and the Knoxville Hotspurs. They were finalists in the Deep Freeze Indoor Shootout in January of 2007.
The team presented their mothers with flowers on Mother's Day 2006 before their first State Cup game.
